Jesse Jackson was a great person and was very famous for public speeches and heroic manners. Jesse Jackson and his family were very poor down in South Carolina But after a while his family got back on track Jesse ended up going to the University of Illinois. During his years in collage he earned a Bachelors degree on the Arts and Sociology in 1964. He was also at times a Baptist Minister in 1868. But before he became Baptist minister he was part of the “Civil Rights Movements.” While he was in “Civil Rights Movement” Jesse walked with Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965 in Selma, Alabama. After his years as a Baptist Minister he turned to be a national director he had encouraged stores in African-American neighbors to carry products made by African-American Businesses. While his job as a national director he also helped elect the first black mayor ever. After all that in 1971 he had started an organization that is called “P.U.S.H” (People United to Serve Humanity). The organization helped African-American kids with school and everyday life. In 1984 and 1988 Jackson organized a multi-ethic “Rainbow Coalition” and campaigned for U.S president. He was also the first major African-American to run for president. During the gulf war in 1990, Jackson visited Iraq and help release American hostages. And still today Jackson is still alive and still a great leader.
